The Run for Her has raised a total of $25,294 to date (2020-2023).
100% of these funds go to Ovarian Cancer Canada, the only national charity dedicated to overcoming the most fatal women's cancer.
Yesterday, we watched as a group of 37 women and men ran in support of Ovarian Cancer Canada. The trail was 31km's. Some ran parts and some did the WHOLE thing including Alicia.
Alicia organized and coordinated this event to honour the 3100 women and people born with ovaries who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer every year. She organized this run to raise awareness so that people may know the signs and symptoms and to advocate for further testing if they have these persistent symptoms. She ran to raise much needed funds to advance research into this disease. There are so many exciting studies coming through some top research labs but they need the funds to continue their research.
So, yesterday we watched the amazing participants of the Run for Her 31km Trail Challenge run, struggle and persist to the end. These participants were so strong and amazing.
I watched Alicia struggle to complete this challenge...but she did, she didn't quit. She is my mentor, our Champion and my hero. Thank you Alicia for being such an amazing person and for always giving of yourself to help us. You are a rock star. Just like the tea lady said...Big Brain...Bigger Heart.
A great weekend of spreading awareness and raising funds for Ovarian Cancer. Last night’s presentation was fabulous - with many women learning about ovarian cancer and genetic testing (with several promising to get it done after hearing my story - yayyyy!!!).
Today was the Run for Her in beautiful Collingwood, with 37 participants and many volunteers supporting the run. We had lots of fun playing with Barbie n Ken waiting for the runners to pass lol!!
Kudos to Alicia Tone for organizing these amazing events!!! You my friend, are a super star!
How do you thank someone who pours her whole heart and soul in to the cause of ovarian cancer? A girl who creates a fundraiser “Run for Her 2022”, and runs 31 KM in honour of the 3100 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Canada this year.
It seems that words are not enough but Alicia, I hope you know just how loved and appreciated you are. Thank you to all of the lovely women and men I met today, who also cared enough to support this cause and raise funds for ovarian cancer research in Canada.
